Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Human Resources Student to join our dedicated People & Culture team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?
The Human Resources Student will support operational excellence by formalizing and centralizing core HR infrastructure. This role is responsible for documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the employee lifecycle, auditing and organizing the agency’s job description repository on the organization’s intranet, and refining interview templates through collaboration with hiring managers. By aligning these tasks with HR best practices, this position ensures people processes are consistent, professional, and scalable.
This position is 9-week contract funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. In accordance with program requirements, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. Candidates must also be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Collate and review all existing job descriptions to ensure consistency in formatting, language, and core competencies.
- Act as the primary administrator for the People & Culture department intranet repository, ensuring all job descriptions are accurately uploaded and categorized for agency-wide access.
- Review and standardize guided interview templates populated by hiring managers to ensure they are objective and competency-based.
- Develop and document comprehensive SOPs for all stages of the employee lifecycle.
- File employee information and general correspondence.
What You’ll Bring?
- Post-secondary courses in Human Resources, Project Management, Business or other relevant field.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in similar and/or relevant position is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with issues of poverty and Edmonton’s urban core and knowledge of relevant community and government resources is considered an asset.
