Over 1,300 people volunteer at Bissell Centre each year, spending almost 17,000 hours supporting the organisation’s programs and community. Volunteers are critical to Bissell Centre and play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission.


Make Tax Time Pay Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for friendly people to make our Make Tax Time Pay Clinics possible. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet new people, learn more about filing taxes and applying for benefits, develop new skills, and make a REAL difference in the community. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

Volunteer Opportunities

Regular/Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in a regular,  ongoing commitment?

  • Most roles are available Monday to Friday 9 AM – 4 PM. Limited options available on Saturdays. No evening options available at this time.
  • Minimum commitment of three months working at least 2 shifts per month.
  • Requirements include: online application form, interview and orientation meeting, criminal records check, child intervention check (as applicable), and two references.

Special Event Opportunities

Looking for a one-time commitment?

We host a number of special events throughout the year, which require more volunteers. These occasions are suitable for corporate and community-based volunteer groups, as well as individuals who are looking for one-time commitments.

Group Opportunities

Looking for a way to give back as a team?

We invite families, friends, co-workers, and student groups ranging from 2 to 10 people to volunteer at Bissell Centre. Groups are welcome to come one time, or on an ongoing basis.

Student Practicums

Do you need to complete a required practicum? Bissell Centre works with students from various universities and colleges across Canada.
