• Outreach Housing Team

    The sole purpose of the Outreach Housing Team is to locate, engage, and house people who are homeless. Consisting of seven outreach workers, the team will work in under-serviced and unreached areas of the city where homeless people congregate.

  • Walk-in Support Services

    Not all services offered at Bissell Centre are run formally through programs. We offer assistance in many areas, like acting as a mailing address for individuals who don’t have an address of their own. These services can be accessed by walking into either our Bissell Centre East or West buildings and speaking to any of our staff members.

  • Housing Services

    Being homeless means seldom being safe, both on the streets and in shelters. There are few safe spaces for the homeless.  We believe that everyone deserves to have a safe place to call home.  Our range of housing services include our Homeless to Homes, Community Bridge and our Outreach Housing Team .

  • 24/7 Mobile Assistance Program

    24/7 Mobile Assistance Program has ceased operations as of October 1, 2015.
    A revised, integrated crisis diversion service has been launched by REACH Edmonton and other partners and the community can still call 2-1-1 to dispatch a crisis diversion team around the clock. Partners in that service hope to increase even further on the successful results of 24/7 MAP, and we wish them well in their endeavours.

  • Employment Services (Casual Labour)

    Employment Services provides an integrated approach to assist participants entering or re-entering the workforce. We provide assessments, referrals, life management workshops, employment counselling, safety courses, resume development, supported job searches and placement opportunities. We also offer Casual Labour, Jobs First, Skill Enhancement, Moving Up, Strengthening our Spirit, and Women’s Pre-employment programs.

  • Mental Health Services

    Our Mental Health support staff members work with individuals who have mental health concerns, and often concurrent addictions issues, who do not have appropriate supports to address their daily living needs. Our program staff help people to function successfully in the community by reducing the barriers involved in meeting their economic, social and personal needs.

  • FASD Permanent Supportive Housing

    Bissell Centre provides permanent supportive housing for people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Bissell staff are on-site to provide around-the-clock support for tenants living in an apartment complex. This is the first such facility in Canada that offers 24 hour support services for people with FASD.

  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services

    Through community development, advocacy and intensive supports, Bissell Centre’s Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services (FASS) program enhances the community’s capacity for prevention and awareness through education, and supports for the well-being of individuals, families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and their caregivers.

  • Inner City Victim Services

    Bissell Centre, along with Boyle Street Community Services, provides street level access to programs and services to those who’ve been victims of crime. This program offers a safe gateway for marginalized people to acquire information and receive support to ultimately access and successfully navigate the Criminal Justice System.
