The sole purpose of the Outreach Housing Team is to locate, engage, and house people who are homeless. Consisting of seven outreach workers, the team will work in under-serviced and unreached areas of the city where homeless people congregate.

In addition, the team provides follow-up support to those housed. These supports exist to troubleshoot challenges that have arisen with participants, and offer additional resources and services as need requires.

Partnerships have been formed with Edmonton Public Library, Homeward Trust’s Coordinated Intake Workers, All Saints Cathedral, the City of Edmonton, and other organizations to help ensure that we’re reaching as many homeless people as possible.

Funding for the Outreach Housing Team was initiated by the Strathcona High School Leadership Program through their Treehouse Project fundraiser in early 2015. We have added additional funds and are currently fundraising for this initiative to ensure the ongoing viability of this important service.

“Without a home, one’s future is dim. Housing homeless people is a first and key step in helping them to address other challenges in their lives, such as mental illness, addictions, and unemployment”.

“This team complements our Housing First teams and will help us double the number of homeless people we house and support to 500 per year.”
