Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Community Bridge Support Worker to join our dedicated Community Bridge team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty.  If you’re ready to bring your heart to a fast-paced, collaborative environment, join us in making an impact in our community.

How You’ll Make an Impact?

The Community Bridge program provides rapid response interventions that stop an imminent eviction and provide supports to ensure the root causes of the eviction are effectively addressed in order to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Identify and support individuals and families at-risk of homelessness because of eviction due to delinquent rents, utilities arrears, or other costs
  • Assist individuals to navigate and access necessary services, resources, and benefits (e.g., income, housing, health care, government benefits, grants, etc.) for which they are eligible
  • Provide flexible one-on-one support to assess situational details, income/expenses, appropriateness of financial support, and need for additional resources
  • Assess prevalence of additional factors such as mental health/addictions, income/finances, physical health, social support system, legal concerns, and housing status.
  • Identify areas where participants may benefit from additional supports and services.

 

What You’ll Bring?

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Science or related discipline
  • Minimum of one-year related employment experience
