Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for an Accountant, Accounts Payable to join our dedicated Finance team  as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty.  If you’re ready to bring your heart to a fast-paced, collaborative environment, join us in making an impact in our community.

How You’ll Make an Impact?

Reporting to the Accounting Team Lead, the Accountant, Accounts Payable is a key member of the Finance team. This role is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions, maintaining strong financial controls, resolving discrepancies, and supporting month-end, audit, and reporting requirements. The position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Process accounts payable transactions, invoices, expense claims, EFTs, e-transfers, and cheque payments in accordance with organizational policies and deadlines
  • Maintain accurate vendor accounts, resolve payment discrepancies, and build positive relationships with vendors and partners
  • Monitor recurring payments, maintain organized financial documentation, and support month-end accounting processes
  • Assist with audits, reporting, funding requirements, and other accounting functions in collaboration with the Finance team
  • Provide back-up support for Accounts Receivable functions and contribute to special projects and other finance-related duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Bring?

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and 3+years of AP experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Sage 300 and Sage AP Automation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking, reconciliations, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of transactions with accuracy and attention to detail.
