How You’ll Make an Impact?

The Intake Coordinator acts as the essential first point of contact for families seeking support, ensuring a welcoming and efficient entry into the organization’s services. This role is responsible for the professional management of the referral pipeline, conducting preliminary assessments to determine program eligibility, and streamlining the administrative transition to ongoing case management. By bridging the gap between initial inquiry and active support, this position ensures that families in need are connected to the right resources with minimal delay and maximum clarity.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming referrals, ensuring a timely and professional response to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct initial intakes to gather baseline participant information and assess immediate needs against program eligibility criteria.
  • Facilitate the transition of participants into the program by coordinating and confirming intake appointments between families and the Family Support Workers (FSWs).
  • Ensure all initial referral data is accurately captured and organized to support seamless caseload assignment and program reporting.
  • Relay messages as appropriate or transfer to appropriate extension number/contact number. Staff member must exercise discretion and diplomacy on obtaining information from callers for persons not immediately available.
  • Provide updated information to participants on accessing basic needs, employment, childcare and family support, housing, income tax services, etc.

 

What You’ll Bring?

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Support Work or combination of other relevant education and experience.
  • Employees with Social Work Diploma/Degree are required to provide and maintain ongoing registration, in good standing, with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) as per Alberta Health Professions Act.
  • Minimum one year of employment experience working with individuals in crisis (e.g., high-risk populations, case management, mental health and addictions).
  • Prior experience supporting adults in crisis, addictions, mental health or other complex barriersis highly preferred.
