Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Housing Support Worker to join our dedicated Housing Services team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?
The Housing Support Worker provides support to participants to find permanent, stable housing that meets the needs of the individual. The Housing Support Worker collaborates with external and internal community supports, along with landlords to ensure consistent service delivery across the program. The Housing Engagement Team addresses complex housing barriers faced by participants.
- Target and connect between two and eight participants with appropriate housing monthly
- Support the development of a “Housing Plan” for individuals and families.
- Complete assertive outreach to connect with Participants, as necessary.
- Deliver services in participant homes, community settings, and at the agency.
- Community travel using personal vehicle is required to support participants, attend appointments, facilitate programming, and maintain community partnerships.
What You’ll Bring?
- Degree or Diploma in Social Science or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years related employment experience
- Alberta Class 5 License, satisfactory driver’s abstract, and a vehicle
- Ability to effectively manage a caseload and prioritize time sensitive tasks
- Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness, mental health, physical health as well as substance use disorders
- Experience with community resources, referrals and navigating systems is an asset
