Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a FASD Adult Advocate to join our dedicated FASD Family Support Services team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?
The Adult Advocate works with adults diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and their immediate social networks to enhance their life circumstances by providing case management support, advocacy, and system navigation. The Adult Advocate is responsible for working with the participant to build and navigate goals. The Adult Advocate provides extensive role-modeling, practical assistance and connects participants to a comprehensive variety of services in the community.
The Adult Advocate utilizes case management through a client centered, strengths-based model that is rooted in harm reduction. The successful candidate requires successful working relationships with participants that support their ability to reach their goals and a solid understanding of FASD and trauma informed practice.
- Provide ongoing supportive case management for adults with or who may have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
- Collaboratively develop, implement, monitor, and revise goal plans with participants.
- Support participants through role-modeling, teaching, advocacy, and resource navigation.
- Enhance participants’ readiness for change and foster greater self-reliance.
- Offer crisis intervention as needed.
- Facilitate completion of FASD or functional assessments to identify participant strengths, needs, and goals.
- Support access to essential needs, including income supports, housing, healthcare, and legal services.
What You’ll Bring?
- Diploma or degree in Social Sciences or related field; or equivalent experience with FASD or disability services.
- Minimum one year of experience working with high-risk populations or in community development.
- Registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (if applicable).

Available Positions:
- 1 FASD Advocate – Contract until April 30, 2027, Full-Time role 40 hours per week
Wage: $23.59/hr
