Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for the right individual to fill the position of Administrative Assistant (3 month contract, FT).  This individual is eager to learn and contribute to the completion of a number of projects that support the fundraising efforts of the organization.   Able to follow direction and break down complex material, this individual thrives on meeting deadlines and ensuring a project is accomplished effectively.

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative duties which include supporting the Resource Development team with a number of department projects.  This role demands a high level of confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with Bissell team members, leadership and the public.


Program Delivery

  • Provide administrative support for departmental projects including updating project management and communication systems, filing of documents, scanning and documenting files, and data entry
  • Assist with contract and grant document administration
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters, receipts and other correspondence
  • Conduct research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors
  • Compile data, statistics, metrics and other information as required
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports

General and Administrative

  • Maintain digital and manual filing systems
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Supports team by providing administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning for all departmental members.
  • Participate in safety walks around Bissell Centre’s downtown buildings
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.


Education and Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in an administrative role
  • College diploma or additional post-secondary education considered an asset
  • Office administration certificate; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Preference to individuals who have an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and
  • Experienced in cloud-based systems, CMS and project management
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and apply to project work
  • Accurate and efficient (45 wpm) keyboarding, data entry skills and working knowledge in operating office equipment e.g., printer, copier and postage machine
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness, and Edmonton’s urban core an asset



  • Contract Position – 3 months
  • Head office is in downtown Edmonton. Note: position will be hybrid and may continue to work remotely on a part- or full-time basis depending on Covid-19 restrictions.   A number of projects require in office work
  • Work happens in a location where there are people experiencing complex life situations
